Train day is a cool day for my family, because my grandfather was a model railroader, so trains have always been a big part of my life, and today was a chance to share that with my kids. My grandpa passed away a couple of years ago and it was so nice that we could go and walk through his train room to celebrate this holiday. My grandma has kept it pretty much as it was the last day he was there.
The kids were just as amazed at his work as I always was, and we all learned some things about the room we didn't know.
This is one of my favorite pictures this truss was one of my grandpa's favorite things, he worked so hard on this piece.
My grandpa crafted this mountain himself. He called it Blue Mountain.
This 3110 sign came off of an actual engine that had wrecked and my grandpa had to clean up.
The lantern on the right was used by my great grandpa when he worked for the railroad as a conductor and brake man.
The number one rule of the train room has always been posted as you walk in the door. You don't touch dem trains.
Keep celebrating.
